“He will feed his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms and carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.” Isaiah 40:11

The clergy and lay leaders of St. Mark’s hold it as a sacred trust to come alongside our parishioners in moments of crisis, sudden illness, or loss—day or night. When you find yourself in a moment of deep need, we will be there with prayers, steady presence, and, when appropriate, the rites and prayers for the dying. For any pastoral emergency, please contact the church office so we can respond quickly.

During this time of transition at St. Mark’s, our Wardens are especially committed to making sure no one walks through a difficult moment alone. If you need pastoral care, they will gently connect you with the right person or priest. You may reach out to Jenn Oberlander or Kim Freer at any time.

Not every hardship is an emergency, yet many of life’s burdens feel lighter when shared. The St. Mark’s community is here for those tender, in‑between moments too—with a phone call, a prayer shawl, a casserole, a visit, or simply by holding you in our Sunday prayers. You are never alone here, and we are honored to walk with you through whatever you are facing.

The Pastoral Care Ministry at St. Mark’s offers warm, practical support to parishioners in times of need. Our hope is that every person feels held by the love and prayers of this community.

  • Eucharistic Visitors — trained lay ministers who bring Communion to parishioners at home, in hospitals, or in nursing care facilities
  • Meals during illness or family emergencies — coordinated support to ease the load during difficult seasons
  • Funeral and memorial collations — gentle help with receptions so families can focus on honoring their loved one
  • Cards and notes of care — celebrating joys, acknowledging sorrows, and reminding parishioners they are not alone

The ministry works closely with our priest and lay leadership to discern how best to respond to requests for care and to reach out to those who may benefit from support but may not know what is available.
